Modern Stone Tile Compact Bathroom in Mechanicsville
About This Project
A compact bathroom renovation in a Mechanicsville home close to downtown Atlanta, where the owners were updating a small bathroom with wall-hung fixtures to maximize the visual space in a tight footprint. The tile is a large-format stone-look porcelain in a warm beige tone, used on both the walls and floor, creating a continuous surface that makes the bathroom feel larger than its actual dimensions.
Using the same large-format tile on both walls and floor in a small bathroom requires careful planning of the layout transitions at wall-to-floor junctions. We set the wall tile first, establishing the vertical layout, then planned the floor tile to align the grout joints at the base of the wall where the two surfaces meet. This alignment, even in a small bathroom, eliminates a busy visual break where the wall tile meets the floor tile. The wall-hung toilet carrier frame was already installed in the wall framing before we arrived, and the tile was cut to fit cleanly around the carrier plate and flush button.
