Copper Square Tile Kitchen Backsplash in West End
About This Project
A kitchen backsplash installation in a renovated West End home with a contemporary design direction. The tile is a 4x4 inch square with a warm copper finish that shifts in tone depending on the light — darker and more muted in shadows, warmer and more reflective under the under-cabinet lighting. The upper cabinets have black-framed glass fronts, which the copper tile complements without competing.
The backsplash runs full height between the countertop and the upper cabinets, with a continuous run behind the range and wrapping into the corner. The layout was set so full tiles appear at the most visible center section behind the range, with cut tiles pushed to the far ends of the run near the window and corner. Outlet cutouts were made with a wet saw rather than a grinder to keep the copper finish clean at the cut edges, which are visible at the outlet plate border.
